A Portuguese baker, at home in Miami.
Some people learn to bake from a recipe. Karina learned by watching generations of her family at work. Her grandparents were bakers, her parents were bakers, and from an early age she understood that baking is equal parts craft, care, and connection.
That inheritance became a profession. An experienced baker, Karina has worked and collaborated with some of Miami’s most recognized bakery institutions, building a career around meticulous technique, dependable quality, and the simple pleasure of food made well.
Backyard Bakery grew from the way she already lived at home: baking fresh breads and treats for her children so something wholesome and homemade was always on the table. What began as a family ritual has become a small, community-based micro-bakery—Karina’s way of sharing those same thoughtfully made goods with her Miami neighbors, one small batch at a time.
